'The Crown' finds a new Prince Philip in this 'Outlander' actor
Out with the old and in with the new: a new Prince Philip just rolled into the royal court, and he's a very familiar face to Outlander fans.
Tobias Menzies, the talented actor in the Starz show behind both Jack and Frank Randall, joins the Netflix cast of The Crown for its upcoming Season 3. Those familiar with Outlanderknow that Menzies can really ride the line between a perfect British gentleman, and an abhorrently vindictive human being -- which is perfectfor Philip's characterization in this fictionalization of the royal family.

He was recently the Duke of Cornwall in the BBC Films adaptation of King Lear, acting opposite titans like Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.
As previously reported, the next season of The Crowntakes a leap forward in time, requiring all the previous cast to be played by a new and more aged cast of actors. Previously, Paul Bettany was rumored to be the one who would take over the role for Matt Smith.
See ya old Prince Philip. Long may the new Prince Philip reign.Credit: netflixWhile it's hard to imagine the show without Emmy-nominated Claire Foy as Elizabeth, Olivia Colman is the newest queen, while her sister, Princess Margaret, will be played by Helena Bonham Carter instead of Vanessa Kirby.
Let's just hope that this time around, the female monarch is getting paid her fair share.
The Crownwill begin shooting again this summer.
