7 Graves Devoted to Food Pioneers

Visitors wandering around Pere-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris may encounter what appears to be a curious case of vandalism: a grave covered in potatoes. It’s actually a tribute to the man buried below, Antoine-Augustin Parmentier, the potato promoter who popularized the tuber across Europe.

From Colonel Sanders to the creator of the Coney Island hot dog, here are seven graves where you can pay your respects—and maybe even leave a potato or two.
